With 29 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, Donovan Heavener has built a career centered on protecting and serving his community. Throughout his tenure, he held diverse roles, including motor officer, school resource officer, detective, and sergeant.

Early in his career, Donovan became deeply involved in the hiring and recruitment process, serving as both a background investigator and a member of the hiring team. Over the years, he has conducted countless interviews with aspiring officers, gaining firsthand insight into what it takes to succeed in law enforcement. His passion for mentoring candidates has helped many navigate the rigorous hiring process with confidence.

With extensive experience in background investigations, Donovan has played a crucial role in identifying and selecting top-tier candidates. His expertise has also made him a valuable resource for other investigators, consulting on complex cases to ensure the right decisions are made.

As a co-host of the Police Applicant Podcast, Donovan continues to share his knowledge, offering valuable guidance to both law enforcement applicants and background investigators. Through this platform, he provides insider insights, expert advice, and real-world experiences to help candidates navigate the hiring process successfully while also supporting investigators in making informed hiring decisions.
